Supercharged Yogurt Batches 6-7: “Beautiful” Lashes!

Posted by

Hi friends! For those of you keeping up on the autoimmune/alopecia parts of my blog, you may have read previous posts about the “supercharged yogurt” self-experiment I’m currently doing. (Let it be said, too, as I do in each post: I’m not a medical professional or anything remotely close, I’m just someone with some health challenges and enjoy self-experiments in the hope that someday, we’ll all feel awesome.)

As of the time I write this, I’m just about to finish Batch 7 of what is, we hope, a homemade yogurt that’s superloaded with prebiotics and probiotics and all sorts of good, grassfed stuff. So far, I’ve only missed one day the entire time I’ve tried this, so it’s safe to say that I’m consistent with it, too (about 69 out of 70 days, or so).

The other day I had my annual dermatologist checkup (if you’ve followed this, you know I had melanoma at 15, so I’m a regular with the dermatologist and her pokes, prods, scrapes, punches and more).

All that said, she spent more than a few seconds raving about, and I quote, my “beautiful” eyelashes. She couldn’t believe that someone with all of my different types of alopecias has such (I must say it again) “beautiful” lashes.

And, I must admit, they do look swell. In December, they started to bail, leaving bald spots at the inner and outer corners of my eyes, but now they’re fully present, long and lovely. Fully pigmented, too. (I haven’t worn mascara since I had a minor eye infection in early December; I threw out all of my eye makeup and never replaced it.)

And, while two weeks ago I only had one, maybe two, pigmented eyebrow hairs (the first in over 18 months), I’ve now got a few of them over my right eye and still have the other invisible hairs over both. They’re tiny victories, friends, but maybe someday they’ll add up, so I’ll take them!

My nails are looking swell, skin’s happy and the tiny bits of hair on the head are hanging on, too, even the few tiny new invisible ones at the back of my head, which has been baby’s-ass bald for over a decade.

My digestion’s still doing well, the only hiccup was related to dehydration for a couple of days, I think. My mood’s still great (very weirdly, too, my hyperintrovertedness has even abated a tiny bit. And while I embrace my introvertedness, it’s kind of nice not to be essentially agorophobic, which was becoming a bit of a concern, frankly).

So far with the supercharged yogurt, so good! (For the recipe I use, see this post.)

I’ll post again soon, whenever I notice additional (and hopefully positive still) changes. Thanks for reading, xoxoxoxo

{Note: These are my own experiences with holistic healing and a whole slew of self-experiments and aren’t meant as medical advice for anyone else. But, I know a lot of friends and family members are grappling with a huge variety of autoimmune issues and other ailments, so I’m happy to share my experiences. And if this is your first visit and you’d like to follow chronologically, click here. Otherwise, enjoy!}
